The Virgin Islands Democratic Party is holding a retreat on St. Croix this weekend.
The gathering of the territorys Democrats will be at the Tamarind Reef Hotel starting Friday with a cocktail party, said James OBryan, state chair of the Democratic Party. The meeting will continue Saturday with workshops and an opportunity to dialogue with Gov. Charles Turnbull and Lt. Gov. Gerard Luz James II.
The retreat will end Sunday with a prayer breakfast at the Rotary West Community Center.
OBryan urged territorial and district committee members and all Democrats to attend the retreat.
Prior to the meeting, Turnbull has been on St. Croix for the past week. On Tuesday he spoke to administrators, teachers and staff of the Department of Education. On Thursday he attended a hurricane table-top exercise at the V.I. Territorial Management Agency.
The meeting, attended by more than 100 emergency service coordinators, was conducted to prepare all agencies for possible storms.
On Friday, Turnbull and James will inspect the Public Works Department.
