CONTINENTAL TO RETURN TO V.I.

As has been anticipated, Continental Airlines is returning to the Virgin Islands.
At a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Gov. Charles Turnbull and Continental officials are expected to announce the airline will begin flying to the territory again in December.
Other than that date for resuming service, neither the government nor the airline would disclose Monday what destinations the flights will serve or the numbers of flights planned.
Continental is the second major airlines to announce new flights to the Virgin Islands this year. Earlier this year, United Airlines announced it would begin flying to the territory this fall.
According to sources in the tourism industry, a third major carrier, TWA, is also considering beginning service to the Virgin Islands.
The press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the Government House ballroom.
