V.I. Calling Seminars and Trade Shows Target Travel Agents on East Coast
The first series of Virgin Islands Calling educational seminars and trade shows will take place on the east coast, August 23-27, 1999. These seminars are offered by invitation only to select stateside travel agents to educate them about the USVI's latest offerings. Hoteliers from St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas will be on-hand to talk about their respective properties and encourage agents to book vacations to the territory for their clients. The trade shows will take place between 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., and dinner seminars will be held from 7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Upcoming V.I. Calling seminars and trade shows will be held at the following venues: August 23, Holiday Inn in Tysons Corner, Va.; August 24, Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Md.; August 25, Valley Forge Hilton in King of Prussia, Pa.; August 26, The Inn at Ethan Allen in Danbury, Conn.; and August 27, Boston Marriott in Newton, Mass. Win a Return Trip to the USVI Through "Picture Yourself In Paradise" Photo Contest
Vacationers who participate in the territory's "Picture Yourself in Paradise" summer promotion can win a trip back to America's Paradise next year. A vacationer on each island will be selected to receive a return visit for two, including air travel to the USVI compliments of Delta Vacations and a five- night stay at a participating resort on St. Croix, St. John or St. Thomas. To enter the photo contest, vacationers should submit pictures of their USVI vacation experience. Any people featured prominently in the photos must be members of the contestants' respective party, who will be required to sign photo releases if their photo is chosen. Vacationers may submit up to five different photos with the following information included on the back of each photo: name, mailing address, daytime phone number and hotel or resort where vacationed. Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas Welcomes New General Manager
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas recently welcomed a new general manager. Carter Donovan replaced general manager Doug Brooks last month. Brooks is now working at The Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall, Jamaica. Donovan is one of only two female general managers within the hotel chain and also one of the few female general managers ever to work at a major hotel in the USVI. Marriott Beach Resorts, St. Thomas Announce Summer and Fall Vacation Packages
St. Thomas' Marriott Frenchman's Reef and Morning Star Beach Resorts recently announced vacation packages for the summer and fall seasons. The "Sun, Sand and Surf" package features breakfast daily and a round-trip ride on the water ferry to downtown Charlotte Amalie. Effective now through October 16, 1999, summer rates for a four-day/three-night "Sun, Sand and Surf" package range from $399 to $609, per person (double occupancy). The "Fun in the Sun" package features breakfast and dinner at any of resorts' five restaurants and a round-trip ride on the water ferry to downtown Charlotte Amalie. Summer rates for the "Fun in the Sun" package for four days and three nights range from $599 to $789, per person (double occupancy). The "No Nonsense All- Inclusive" package features daily breakfast, lunch and dinner at any of the resorts' five restaurants, as well as all beverages by the glass. Summer rates for the "No Nonsense All-Inclusive" package range from $679 to $909, per person (double occupancy) for a four-day/three-night stay. Rates will increase for the fall season, effective October 17 to December 18, 1999.
