TWO APPOINTED TO MANAGEMENT POSITIONS AT BANCO

Banco Popular has announced the appointment of Gwendolyn Hall Brady as the general manager of operations for St. Croix and Oran C. Roebuck as the human resources manager for the Virgin Islands region.
"Mrs. Brady and Miss Roebuck bring a great deal of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to Banco Popular and we are fortunate to have them join us," said Valentino I. McBean, senior vice president and Virgin Islands regional manager for Banco Popular.
Brady will be responsible for business development, community relations, employee development and departmental coordination for the island of St. Croix.
For nearly three years Brady served as the director of the
Division of Banking and Insurance for the Virgin Islands where she was responsible for the regulation of banking and insurance activities in the territory.
Brady previously worked with the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency in various capacities including the Deputy Director responsible for personnel and training and Housing program manager responsible for managing single and multi-family housing programs.
"I am honored to be associated with Banco Popular, and especially to have the opportunity to work with the bank's dedicated and hardworking employees in St. Croix. My goal is to work with the staff, as a team, in order to present our competitive products and services to the people of St.
Croix, to individuals and businesses."
Brady plans to increase Banco Popular's community outreach efforts and thereby enhance the bank's leadership role as a corporate citizen and business partner. "We realize that we must come from behind our desks to build customer relationships and to conduct community relations activities, such as seminars on money and credit management."
Roebuck has joined Banco Popular as the human resources manager for the Virgin Islands region. She will head the department headquartered in the bank's new regional offices in Altona, St. Thomas dividing her time between St. Croix, St. Thomas and Tortola.
Roebuck was the former chief labor negotiator human resources and labor relations experience.
"I am pleased to be associated with this premier bank. I am also
proud to be a part of the strong management team comprised of local Virgin
Islanders. My appointment demonstrates the bank's commitment to maintaining local management and the trust and confidence that Banco Popular places in young Virgin Islanders."
In her capacity as human resources manager Roebuck hopes to encourage young Virgin Islanders to seek careers in management and banking.
"We will continue to be actively involved in preparing students to enter into financially sound career opportunities. Banco Popular means the people's bank – we want to be just that for our clients and our staff."
Banco Popular has eight Virgin Islands branches: Orange Grove and
Sunny Isle on St. Croix, Hibiscus Alley, Ft. Mylner, Sugar Estate, Red Hook and the Main Branch in Altona on St. Thomas and Road Town in Tortola.
