UNIVERSITY HONORS FACULTY AND STAFF

At 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 21 in the cafeteria of the Harvey Student Center at the University of the Virgin Islands, Gov. Charles Turnbull, PhD, Professor Emeritus joined the university faculty and staff at the 25th Service Awards Ceremony. The governor delivered the keynote address both as a newly recognized professor emeritus and retiree following 30 years of varied service.
The program was directed by Manual Thomas, Human Resources Manager. Orville E. Kean, President presented the awards to the honorees.
Five year award recipients included, Cherilyn G. Browne, Terrence G. Crooke, Debra J. Graulich, Richard L. Hall, Darlene E. Hill, Keishiro Matsumoto, Robert W. Nicholls, Emily A.D. Petty, and Verna J. Rivers.
Ten year award recipients included, Robert F. Emanuel, Sybil Y. Farrington, Reginald I. Hodge, Ai Lun Joseph, John R. Lucas, Stephen A. Prosterman, Vincent Samuel, Henry H. Smith, Mervin V. Taylor, Toni A. Thomas, and Marie L. Traina.
The 15 year award recipients included , Keith I. Freeland, Albion C. George, Ura M. Jones, Angel L. Morales, Dale Morton, Dion E. Phillips, Pearline A. Phillips, Marion E. Seiler, and Lecia S. Smith.
Honored for 20 years service were, Lorna V. Chesterfield, William O. Ottley, Sr., Mercilla E. Rogers, and Rosalia M. Rohan.
The 25 year honors included, Marie-Claire Braure, Elgin A. Henry, Herman B. Huggins, and Marilyn T. Nibbs.
The 30-year honorees receiving unique chunks of crystal with peacocks and fish set in the crystal included , Joseph Aird, Judith A. Grybowski, Marilyn A.F. Krigger, Pearl I Varlack, and Vernon R. Williams.
The seven retirees included , Neville Antoine, Paul E. Francis, Judith A. Grybowski, Johannes Overbeek, Rene P. Questel, Marion E. Seiler, and Governor Charles W. Turnbull. They were honored with both letters of appreciation and the proverbial gold watch.
L&P Catering catered the event and music was provided by Austin Venzen and the UVI Music Department both prior to and following the formal program. The primary theme was flute music showcasing the excellence of our UVI talent.
