SHANI SMITH IS QUEEN OF CARNIVAL '99

Shani Smith, 16, is the new Queen of Carnival.
Smith, a Charlotte Amalie High School student, was chosen over eight other contestants Saturday night at Lionel Roberts Stadium. She also won the awards for Miss Intellect, Miss Cooperative, best talent and best historical costume.
Tracia Boynes, 17, another CAHS student, was first runner-up. Sabrina King, 16, of All Saints School, was second runner-up and won the award for best evening wear.
Other Queen contestants were Dorian Lambert, 17, CAHS, who also was named Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality; Shanee King, 16, CAHS; Alicia Rabess, 18, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School; Alenia Buncome, 17, CAHS; Kamala Williams, 17, CAHS; and Loni Abraham, 17, Kean.
