FIRE INSPECTOR'S TALK FELL ON DEAF EARS

Three Housing Authority employees were treated at the Roy L. Schneider Hospital for oxygen deprivation following a fire at the Bovoni Housing Project late Tuesday morning, according to Sgt. Wilfred Titley of the Lima Fire Station, the unit that responded.
The fire, which started in the bedroom of unit number 129 in Building C, was quickly extinguished, Titley said.
"It was put out in about 30 minutes," he said, "due to the work of Cpl. Myers and firefighters Stout, Straun, Miller and Wilkinson."
The bedroom where the fire started was destroyed, according to Fire Inspector Merwin Potter. Potter said the rest of the apartment sustained smoke and water damage.
Though the investigation is not complete, it appears the fire was started by children playing with matches, Potter said.
"I was just recently at the school the child attends, too, talking about fire prevention," he added.
he three Housing personnel were released after treatment, according to an emergency room employee.
