MARCH OBSERVED AS SPECIAL SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION MONTH

The territory has observed the 25th anniversary of the WIC program.
The program has been shown to have lessened childhood anemia, infant mortality, premature births, low birthweight and other problems related to nutrition in pregnant women. the program provides nutrition education and nutritious foods. It also provides referrals to other health care providers, especially for pre-natal care.
