Man Arrested After Police Say He Assaulted Woman During Domestic Dispute

A man was arrested Monday night after officers responding to a domestic disturbance reported seeing him assault a woman inside a residence on St. Croix, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Police identified the suspect as Stedroy Blake.

Officers responded to a report of a verbal disturbance at about 10:41 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they encountered Blake, who appeared intoxicated and allegedly threatened to harm a female acquaintance and her child, police said.

According to the VIPD police report, officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Blake ran back into the residence, where officers saw him physically assault the woman.

Blake was taken into custody and transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station. After being advised of his Miranda rights, he was booked and charged with simple assault and battery-domestic violence, the police report stated.

He was remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing, according to police.
