On Tuesday, April 29, at about 10 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched via the 911 Emergency Call Center to an automobile collision that occurred on the Queen Mary Highway in the vicinity of the Paradise bus shanty in Frederiksted, which resulted in the arrest of 66-year-old John Gaudet, reported the V.I. Police Department.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers made contact with the drivers, and while interviewing Gaudet, the officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his breath, according to the police report.
The officers attempted to administer a Standardized Field Sobriety Test, however, he could not do the test due to injuries to his legs. He was then placed on the intoximeter but failed to blow correctly three times. He was then placed under arrest for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor, the report stated.
Bail for Gaudet was set at $1000 per the bail chart. Gaudet posted bail and was released pending his advice of rights hearing.
