Richard Petrus

Richard Petrus, affectionately known as “Keba,” died on July 3 at his home in Grove Place. He was 67 years old.

He leaves to mourn, his mother, Angelita Collins Petrus; life partner, Merissa Williams; children and stepchildren: Patricia Petrus, Louise Petrus-Long, Keba-Eyan Petrus, Abednego Petrus, Taahira Walker and Shariyfa Walker-Cedeno; grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Kal El Bishop, Clarence Bishop, Furman Thomas III, Tyson Davis and Kaleb Cedeno; and siblings: Sarah Petrus-Ross, Wayne Petrus, Brenda Petrus Bastian, James Petrus “Brother Rap,” Owen Petrus, Warren Petrus “Mabuto,” Dale Petrus “Daza” and Jamela Petrus “Keda.”

He is also survived by son- and daughters-in-law: Curtis Long, Timicia George-Petrus and Mariah Petrus; sister- and brother-in-law: Jackie Ross and Rhonda Petrus; and nieces and nephews: Kai Yarwood, Kia Williams, Kila Ross, Kye Bruce, Kayla Yarwood, Aleyna Yarwood, Bennet Yarwood, Maximo Yarwood, Kail Henderson, Eric Ross, Telisha Springer, Shamay Springer, Osie Petrus, Tonya Petrus, Nihee Petrus, Dwayne Petrus, Jabari Petrus, Kinita Petrus. Aaron Petrus, Jimmy Petrus,

He is also survived by other nieces and nephews: Karen Petrus, Warren Petrus, Jr., Angelo Petrus, Sleepy Petrus, Dale Petrus, Jr. Dana Petrus, Sharon Petrus, Sharon Petrus, Joseph Petrus, Tyrone Petrus, Mary Petrus, Richard Petrus, Shanice Christian, Shaniffa Christian, Keniqua Christian, Nia Petrus, Dr. Carla Bastian-Knight, Alex Petrus, Sandra Simmonds, Gustave Simmonds Jr, Brenda Simmonds, Tamara Williams, Renika Williams, Shauna Williams, Rianna Williams, Abaise Williams and Ajarie Williams.

Other survivors include special nephews, nieces and cousin: Vincent “Putchie” Petrus, Dโ€™Anne Petrus, Tellisha Petrus and Iyiechia Petrus-Byron; as well as special friends: Stanley “Shalom” Farrelly, H. Andre Laudat, Phillip “Phil” Merchant, Bernard “Ibo” Christian, Steve Davis, Valence and Natasha Modeste, Patricia Williams, Letitia Hurley, Kenny and Ophelia Jackson, and Bridgette Williams; as well as other families and friends too numerous to mention.

The family requests that those in attendance wear black, yellow or green colors.

Tributes will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, July 26. at Lejolie Hall (adjacent to House of Printing). Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
