Jeffrey Cole, 57, of St. Thomas, was sentenced Tuesday on his conviction for failing to register as a sex offender, U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert announced.
District Court Judge Curtis V. Gomez sentenced Cole to six months in prison, three years of supervised release and a special assessment of $100. Gomez also ordered Cole to perform 100 hours of community service.
According to court records, Cole was convicted for voyeurism in Ohio in 2009, a conviction that would require him to register as a sex offender. He moved to the Virgin Islands in 2018, and failed to register.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Marshal Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Everard E. Potter.
