Police Investigate Two Thefts

Police on St. Croix are investigating separate burglary and robbery cases the occurred this week.

• According to the V.I. Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 2:30 p.m. Monday, to an incident robbery that occurred on Market Street in Christiansted.

Police spoke to the victim, a 27-year-old woman, who told them when she returned to her home she noticed that the louvers were damaged and the window screen was off. She said more than $400 dollars was missing from her handbag, which was inside the home.

• At about 6:45 p.m. Sunday, a woman told police she was in the vicinity of Gary’s Bakery when an unknown man walked up behind her and threatened her with a firearm. The woman, 27 years old, told police the suspect took her designer handbag valued at more than $1,000, containing $20 in cash and an Apple iPod.

The victim said the suspect was wearing a black hoodie and she could not identify him any further. She was not injured.

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are following up on these cases.
