Governor to Speak at USVIHTA Annual General Membership Meeting

The United States Virgin Islands Hotel and Tourism Association (USVIHTA) has announced its annual general membership meeting and luncheon to be held from noon to 2 p.m. on March 16 at the Ritz Carlton where Governor John P. deJongh Jr. will speak on the State of the Territory and 2012 Initiatives.
USVIHTA Board of Directors elections will also take place at the annual meeting and luncheon along with updates from the association including marketing, committee updates, scholarships and student initiatives. In addition, the luncheon will highlight education and training opportunities, tourism awareness and include an overview of finances.
Lisa Hamilton, president of the association, said that members are working harder than ever in a down economy to ensure the association stays competitive in a global market. “We are excited to welcome the governor to speak to our membership as we work to build upon and leverage the many renovations and enhancements completed in 2011 in an effort to stay competitive in the hotel and tourism industry.” Hamilton added that 2011 successes also included working with the Department of Tourism to market the Virgin Islands as a premier destination in the Caribbean for travelers world-wide.
“It is the goal of the USVIHTA to help our members provide quality travel experiences that benefit guests, members and the people of the USVI,” Hamilton said. “We are also continuing to work to provide seamless delivery of education and training through programs in improved customer service, labor relations and legal seminars that support our members and help to drive the economy of the USVI.”
