Effective Monday, Nov. 14, the Licensing Division of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs will close at 3 p.m. Hours of operation for the Licensing Division will now be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. All other divisions will continue to operate at the usual hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for the cashier whose usual operating hours are from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., according to a press release issued Monday by DLCA
Implementation of new operating hours for the division became necessary to allow staff time to complete required administrative functions. Addressing the large volume of online applications has also become a challenge for staff while also servicing a steady flow of walk-in customers. All new and renewal license applications are now processed electronically via the department’s Web site, www.dlca.vi,gov. Dedicating two hours to administrative functions daily will serve to expedite the processing of licensing transactions thus ensuring DLCA’s commitment to timely service to customers.
Licensing and Consumer Affairs reminds the public that the St. Thomas and St. Croix offices also host computer kiosks. Applicants are invited to visit the offices and utilize the kiosks between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to submit new and/or renewal applications. Electronic applications may be accomplished without intervention of licensing staff; however, staff will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to assist persons who may have difficulty with the online application process.
