The Manor School will hold auditions for tuition scholarships for the 2011-2012 school year for deserving students with special interests and talents in the arts. Students are invited to attend an interview/audition from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29 at the school. There will be ten $1000 scholarships awarded and announced on July 1. If students’ primary interests are in visual arts, they may bring samples of their art if available. If a student’s interest is in singing, acting or instrumental music, he or she should come prepared with a song to sing, a monolog or a prepared instrumental performance. A keyboard will be available. If applicants have nothing prepared, the performing arts teacher will help them prepare a cold reading or a vocal selection. If interested in auditioning but unable to attend the scheduled audition, call Linda Garvin at 690-3002 to set up an alternate time.
In addition, there are five $1000 scholarships available to students who are interested in chess. Manor School has a successful chess program as well and is recruiting interested students. Call the school at 718-1448 for more information about the chess scholarships
