Oct. 2, 2007 There are 5.5 million dogs euthanized every year in shelters across the country because there are not enough loving homes. To combat this, the St. Croix Animal Shelter is urging residents of St. Croix to celebrate Adopt-A-Shelter Dog this October by stopping by the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center to meet some of the dogs and puppies, all breeds and sizes, that are waiting for loving families.
When you adopt one of the shelter's animals, not only are you saving that animal's life but you are allowing us to help other animals. Other ways to help animals are:
· Spay or neuter your pet. There are already too many animals and not enough loving homes to go around. There are low cost vouchers available from the shelter to help with the cost of the procedure.
· All pets need a reliable form of ID. For only $5 annually, your pet can have a license that will help us to identify him/her should they get lost.
· Contribute time, money or needed supplies to the shelter's efforts to improve the lives of St. Croix animals.
