TROPICAL STORM WARNING LIFTED

Jose came in as a hurricane but left the Virgin Islands as a tropical storm.
At 5 p.m. AST, with the formality it reserves for these events, the National Hurricane Center lifted the tropical storm warning that had been in effect since this morning for the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Jose itself was still classified as a tropical storm, but no longer endangering the area. It was at 19.2 degrees north latitude and 65.7 west longitude, about 55 miles northeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
