Thank you for your wonderful source of information on our island. We are part time residents, spending our off-island time in Chicago.
I thought nothing could rival the theater that is politics in Chicago, but the V.I. government takes the Oscar. It seems that the only function of the Legislature is to fight against every idea or proposal that comes along. In the midst of all this fighting, the tourists are going elsewhere while corporate investors who would give this joke of an economy a much-needed infusion of jobs and capital are being driven away.
Why would any corporation in their right mind want to go through what Beal did before packing up and taking their business to a more sane and friendly environment?
Most of the people here don't even know where the Virgin Islands are, much less that they are a U.S. territory, but most certainly are familiar with Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas and other vacation destinations because there are TV ads running constantly.
This state of affairs is an embarrassment and needs to be corrected soon. I can't afford to keep my rental property if there is no one to rent it to.
When will Virgin Islanders wake up and realize that the emperor isn't wearing any clothes?
