Nov. 6, 2003 – East End St. John residents are invited to a start-up meeting of the Coral Bay Community Organization set for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the John's Folly Learning Institute.
"It's so that Coral Bay will have a voice in all kinds of activities," said Sharon Coldren, an area resident involved in getting the organization going.
Other members of the core group are Alvis Christian, Lorelei Monsanto, Kent Irish, Jean Cotrell and Robin Gallup.
Coldren said Coral Bay needs an entity to interact with government agencies and developers because the area is growing so rapidly. "We'd like to maintain some of the uniqueness" of the community, she said, and residents need to push for public infrastructure and service improvements.
All kinds of rumors about development plans have been floating around, Coldren said, but none have turned out to be true. But that may not always be the case, she said, and Coral Bay needs a representative organization so that when issues arise, the community's views can be made known. She said the group will be constituted as a not-for-profit corporation.
