Three men were arrested early Sunday by police investigating reports of gunshots being fired in the vicinity of a Subbase nightclub, according to the V.I. Police Department.
The police reported that Lyn Fredericks Jr., 33, of Estate Nadir; Tyler LaBarrie, 26, of Bovoni; and Jonaki Hazel, 20, of Estate Nadir were arrested and each charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm.
According to the arrest report, at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday the 911 emergency call center received a report of gunfire having been discharged in the vicinity of the Krush Night Club in Subbase. According to several witnesses in the area, the shots were being fired from a dark-colored vehicle that traveled east on Veterans Drive.
Shortly after, a dark-colored vehicle was involved in an accident on Veterans Drive in the vicinity of Pump House. Arriving officers said they saw two men standing outside the vehicle while the third defendant exited the vehicle and threw firearms into the bushes, and then attempted to flee the scene of the incident in the presence of an officer.
Several shell casings were discovered in the alley between the Krush Night Club and Pueblo Supermarket of Subbase that allegedly matched the firearms found in the bushes near the defendants’ vehicle when the accident occurred.
Unable to post bail in the amount of $25,000, Fredericks, LaBarrie and Hazel were turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending their advice rights hearing.
