Residents will have an opportunity to hear directly from Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority officials and ask questions about long-standing infrastructure and sanitation issues during an upcoming town hall meeting hosted by the Frenchtown Civic Organization.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, July 28, at 6 p.m. at the Frenchtown Community Center and will feature VIWMA Executive Director Hannibal โMikeโ Ware, who is expected to provide updates on several issues affecting the community.
According to the Frenchtown Civic Organization, the discussion will focus on sewage overflows, manhole maintenance, deteriorating infrastructure, household waste collection, and the authorityโs plans for future improvements.
The meeting comes as residents continue to raise concerns about aging sewer infrastructure, recurring overflows, and solid waste management in the historic waterfront community.
โWe want residents to come with their questions, concerns, and ideas. This is an opportunity for the community to engage directly with VIWMA leadership and hear firsthand about the challenges, ongoing work, and future plans for addressing these issues,โ FTCO President Cindy Richardson said.
Richardson said the organization hopes the meeting will foster open dialogue between residents and the agency while ensuring community concerns remain part of the conversation. โOur goal is to advocate for Frenchtown and make sure our community has a voice in the decisions that impact our quality of life. Meetings like this help to build accountability and keep residents informed about the work being done in our neighborhood,โ Richardson said.
The town hall is open to the public, and all residents are encouraged to attend.
