There are 10 forest ecosystem types on St. Croix. They are semi-evergreen forest, deciduous forest, thorn woodland, thorn scrub, mangrove swamp, littoral woodland, beach ecosystem, savanna, man’s monoculture ecosystem, and man’s diverse ecosystem. The semi- evergreen forest on St. Croix is in isolated ravine areas like in the northwestern and northeastern central part of the Maroon Park, which usually contains semi-evergreen forest where the average rainfall is between 45 to 60 inches on a normal year.
