Cyclists Battle Strong Winds in VICF Two-Person Time Trial

Ten determined teams faced challenging winds on Sunday morning at the Virgin Islands Cycling Federation Two-Person Time Trial. The racecourse, a 6-mile lap starting and finishing in front of the former Doc James Racetrack, featured two race categories: the 18-mile Endurance division and the 12-mile Sprint division.

In the Endurance division, Stephen Swanton and Alex Betancourt blazed through three laps to secure first place with an impressive time of 44:08. Finishing nearly four minutes behind, the father-son duo of David and Xander Morales claimed second place, while Norbert Prospere and Glenn Massiah rounded out the podium in third with a time of 48:48.

The Sprint division saw Troy Holloway and Nelson Rojas dominate the two-lap course, finishing in a swift 36:39. Close behind, Enid Francis and newcomer Tarik McMillan teamed up to take second place with a time of 39:30. In another standout family effort, grandmother Laverne Fredericksen and grandson Randy Williams secured third place with a strong performance.

Up next on the VICF calendar is the East End Road Race on Sunday, April 27. The race will start and finish in Estate Solitude, right next to Ziggyโ€™s Gas Station.
