
Vanley McAthur Valentine Pilgrim, also known as “Pilgrim,” of Estate Mt. Pleasant, Frederiksted, died on Aug. 30. He was 71 years old.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Williams; and father, Roy Pilgrim.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Reunita Pilgrim; sons: Richard N. Pilgrim and Robert Pilgrim; step-father, Walter Williams (Shorty); sisters: Theolinda Pilgrim Brooks and Eulandis Pilgrim; brothers: Karl Williams, Walter R. Williams, Albert Pilgrim, Kevin Pilgrim and Bernard Pilgrim; nieces: Patrice Turner, Dilda Richardson and Nikita Joseph; and nephews: Andre Henry, Kareem Joseph, Karl Williams Jr. and Kordel Williams.
He is also survived by great nieces: Jerri-Anne Jeremy, Bethan Marajah, Addosa Thomas, Partia Young, Latesha, Simane and Gianna Evans; great-nephews: Dego Romeo, Antonio Thomas, Marlon and Jumasie Blair; aunts: Idona Blandena Parker, Salomie Carlisle, Agnita Carlisle, Gisel Carlisle and Johanna Chicky Carlisle; uncles: Zack Carlisle and Soloman Carlisle; brothers-in-law: Clement Piggott and Rodney Thomas; and sisters-in-law: Clara Piggott, Dawn Thomas and Shama Williams.
Other survivors include friends: Steve Christmas, Lesroy Ambrose, Tyrone Ambrose, Belus and family, Jules and family, Ursula Theophilus, Velda Massiah and family, Cedric Campbell, Fernella Campbell, Pastor Micheal and family, Lisa-Ryan Richards, Lisa Charles, Dion Richards, Class -19, Eilleen Carr, Pastor Brown and family, Fred Spencer, and Housen and family; and cousins and other relatives: Alexis Prince, Ives McArthur Roberts, Ian Pilgrim, Sherwin Pilgrim, Clarian Pilgrim-Van Holten, Michael Brown, Ian Pilgrim Jr., Janice Stevens, Juliette Richard, Jahlenta Thomas, Hewlet Merrick and Maxwell George; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a service at 10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 29, at Central Seventh-day Adventist Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
