The V.I. Port Authority held their holiday fest, ‘Deh Party Starts Now!’ at the Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility, also known as the Frederiksted Pier, on Friday evening.
The evening was expected to be packed with cultural holiday fun. However, due to inclement weather there were a few pauses for passing clouds to stand clear. Those who came to participate made the best of the weather and patronized vendors and enjoyed the holiday activities.
Some of the performances included the St. Patrick’s Steel Pan Orchestra, Lew Muckle School Cultural Dancers, Central High School Choir, Rising Stars, Guardians of the Culture Moko Jumbies, pictures with Santa Claus and the St. Croix Majorettes. Later in the evening, there were performances from VIO International and the Hartatak Band.
The St. Croix Majorettes literally glowed with their glow-in-the-dark batons as they performed for visitors. The children were excited to see Santa Claus and the holiday spirit was felt with the light designs throughout the pier.
The party does not stop there. The party is expected to continue for the islands of St. Thomas on Wed., Dec. 13, at Crown Bay Center at Subbase starting at 10 a.m. and on St. John on Mon., Dec. 25, at the parking lot adjacent to the Cruz Bay Tennis Court at 7 p.m.
