Nieves Esther Velazquez, also known as “Mami” or “Esther,” died on Saturday, Sept. 23. She was surrounded with love and attended to by her loving husband and sons.
Esther was preceded in death by her son, Gary Anthony Velazquez; grandson, Corneilus Durden; and both of her parents.
Esther is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Pedro Antonio Velazquez; sons: Peter Anthony (Heike) and Richard (Rosie); stepdaughter, Maria; grandchildren: Michelle Sheppard, Julian Bismark, Shari, Jordan Alexander and Samira Velazquez; adopted grandchildren: Jessica Rose, Jeffrey Jr. and Sofia Moreno; niece, Lynda Perdomo Ayala (Joe); great niece, Diandra (Todd); great nephew, Javier; Benjamin and Minerva Nazario, Edwin and Evelyn Nunez, and many other family and friends too numerous to mention.
The viewing will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral. Interment will be in Puerto Rico.
