Vance Antonio Monsanto Sr. Dies at 71

Vance Antonio Monsanto Sr.

God has called home a great solider, Vance Antonio Monsanto Sr. He was affectionately known as โ€œGrandfatherโ€ to many or โ€œKossaโ€ for some, he died on Sept. 3 in Hinesville, Ga., at the age of 71.

Grandfather is preceded in death by his mother, Rehenia Monsanto-Latortue and his son, Vershawn โ€œPJ” Monsanto.

The first viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home. The second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at New Herrnhut Moravian Church. Interment will be at the Brookman Cemetery.

Vance is survived by his daughters: Verna, Vinell, Venise and Vernise Monsanto, and Tiffany Clause; sons: Vance โ€œKareemโ€ Jr., Verne, Vince, Claudell and Emmanuel โ€œTimothyโ€ Monsanto; adopted children: Tasha and Tanasha Wells; sister, Ruby Monsanto Bloice; brothers: Vernon, Eugene and Raymond Monsanto; grandsons: Craig Joseph, Kaleem Moolenaar, Jahkhoy, Timothy, Trevaun and Logan Monsanto, and Kasim Upchurch; granddaughters: Keithra Evans, Kianna, Kiโ€™Niqua and Alyson Monsanto, and Jhโ€™nell Jackson; and adopted grandchildren: Aโ€™Tijah, Aโ€™Zya and Aโ€™Nijah Colaire.

He is also survived by great-grandchildren: Raelyn and Kennedi Evans, Aโ€™Niyah Moolenaar and Josiah Joseph; brother-in-law, Sylvanus Bloice; sister-in-law, Frances โ€œRose โ€œMonsanto; granddaughters-in-law: Beverly Joseph and Quanesha Moolenaar; grandson-in-law, Rashad Evans; many nieces and nephews; aunts: Gertrude, Bernice and Vera Fredericks; special friends: Leroy Estrill, Samuel โ€œFraco Samโ€ Harvey, Arnold โ€œBrotherโ€ Thomas. Calvin โ€œBald Headโ€ Thomas and Pedrito Lanclos; along with numerous other friends and family members.
