Travelers and commuters relying on franchise ferry services between Red Hook and Cruz Bay have a new schedule for planning their trips. St. John Ticketing announced the addition of late evening runs, effective Thursday.
Daily last trips from St. Thomas and St. John now depart at 10 p.m., said spokesperson Delrise Varlack. The schedule change represents the latest step towards restoring full service.
The current schedule provides daily runs from St. Thomas on the half hour from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., then hourly from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; from St. John ferries leave on the hour from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
St. John Ticketing handles ticket purchases for the island’s two francishe service providers Varlack Ventures and Transporation Services of St. John.
Until the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September disrupted the daily ferry schedule, the last trip of the day ran at midnight from St. Thomas and at 11 p.m. from St. John.
Also, the M/V Capt Vic went back to its full schedule starting Jan. 15. The first departure begins at 6:15 a.m. from St. John and the last departure end at 7 p.m. from St. Thomas.
