Police Say Brothers Slashed Each Other Over TV

Two brothers arguing Saturday morning over the volume of the television slashed each other with knives, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Police on St. Croix intervened in the domestic altercation between brothers Robert Williams, 23, and Eugene Mason, 26.

Police were called to the scene just before 6 a.m. Saturday. The 23-year-old brother told police he and his older brother were arguing over the television volume when his brother came after him with a knife and stabbed him in his chest, causing a superficial wound. After he was stabbed in his chest, Robert said he ran his brother down and slashed him on his left elbow, according to police.

Both brothers were taken to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital and treated for their injuries.

Police arrested Williams the same day and charged him with third-degree assault. He was held without bail under the terms of the domestic violence laws. Police said the other brother, Mason, would be arrested upon his hospital discharge.
