Christopher Tronquet, 37, of Estate Bethany was arrested Monday on third degree assault charges after he allegedly punched a man, according to a Police Department press release issued Thursday.
Police said the assault caused a deep gash on the side of the victims’ head that required medical attention.
The incident allegedly stemmed from an argument between the two men. Police said the victim told them that on Sunday he was near Wharfside Village in Cruz Bay when he saw the suspect almost run over a scooter with his vehicle.
Although the scooter did not belong to the victim, he told the suspect to be careful. An argument followed. The suspect allegedly punched the victim, causing him to fall and hit his head on a table.
The victim was treated at the Myra Keating Community Health Center. Medical staff said it took 15 stitches to close the wound.
Tronquet’s bail was set at $25,000 dollars and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
