Internationally known Jungian analyst, teacher and author James Hollis is coming to Undercover Books for a book-signing, lecture and workshop the first weekend of December. In anticipation of these events, Undercover Books will host a special conversation series this summer and fall.
Hollis is a Swiss-trained Jungian analyst, the Director of the Jungian Studies program at Saybrook Graduate School in San Francisco, and the author of more than a dozen books. He writes and speaks with wisdom and compassion on the importance of leaving behind what is comfortable but constraining to reclaim one’s authentic self. Hollis’s underlying focus on living an examined life, and finding the meaning in one’s life, will resonate for many. With frequent references to mythology, literature, drama and poetry, he shows how people can look deeper into themselves and do the work they must do to become who they were meant to be.
Undercover Books’s conversation series will consist of four sessions during which participants will learn some of the fundamental concepts of Jungian psychology and then focus on three of Hollis’s most popular books: “Finding Meaning in the Second Half of Life: How to Finally, Really Grow Up,” “What Matters Most: Living a More Considered Life” and “The Eden Project: In Search of the Magical Other.” Hollis enthusiasts who are already familiar with his writings and ideas, and those new to his work and to Jungian psychology are welcomed. The sessions will be facilitated by Vicki Saunders, Ph.D. She has been a professional facilitator for almost 20 years and also leads Undercover Books’ monthly book group sessions.
The group will meet on four Thursday evenings at Undercover Books in Gallows Bay: Aug. 4, Sept. 8, Sept. 29 and Nov. 3. The cost of the conversation series is the cost of the books plus a nominal amount for refreshments. Participants are encouraged but not required to attend all sessions.
