Taxi Driver Assaulted With Rock, Loses Tooth

Police on St. Thomas arrested 30-year-old Jerimeah John around 3:30 p.m. Thursday and charged him with third degree assault for assaulting a taxi driver with a rock.

Police said John was causing a disturbance on a safari in the Tutu Park Mall parking lot and was asked by the driver to get out of vehicle. The suspect and the driver got out of the safari and began to argue. Another safari driver approached the two men and John threw a stone, hitting the second driver according to police.

The stone injured the victim on his nose and mouth and knocked out his tooth. He was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Bail for John was set at $10,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
