Gunfire Erupts in Savan Bar Sunday

Police on St. Thomas are investigating an incident in which shots were fired at an Estate Savan bar Sunday night.
The case, considered first-degree assault by the police, took place at about 11 p.m. at the Classico Bar.
According to the police report, a 23-year-old man was in the bar with friends when another man entered and fired three shots at him. The intended target was not wounded by gunfire.
The men, however, then began to fight, and the suspect struck the victim with a bottle and cut his right forearm with the broken bottle. The victim was also bitten on his left shoulder.
The suspect fled the area after several patrons intervened in the fight.
The victim was transported by private car to the Roy Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The case will be followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police urge anyone who knows about this assault to contact detectives at 715-5522, 714-9834, or call the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
