Man Injured in Weekend Shooting

Police on St. Croix are investigating a shooting that left one man seriously injured early Sunday.

According to police, a citizen called 911 at about 1:27 a.m. Sunday and reported hearing three gunshots. The caller said he saw a man running from three men in the area of the Sunny Isles stop light, then the victim fell to the ground and the three suspects fled in an easterly direction.

Police arrived on the scene moments later, along with emergency medical technicians who determined the victim was unresponsive but alive. The victim was taken to the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.

Police urge anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the Sunny Isles stop light at about 1:27 a.m. Sunday and saw anything unusual to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 712-6077, 712- 6037 or the anonymous tip service Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
