Octavia Brathwaite Martin, also known as "Miss Octavia” and “Mama,” died at age 96.
He is survived by his daughters: Gloria Granger and Henricata Mussington; adopted daughter, Assilita Brown; sons, Arendel Martin; grandchildren: Claudette Bird Stevenson Tremelle Gerard, Avery Gerard, Corwin Commabatch, Kysa Donowa, Kirsten Mussington, Arendel Martin Jr. and Lisa Martin; and great-grandchildren: Kyle Stevenson, Devyn Gerard, Jaeden Gerard, Zariyah Gerard, and Randy, Kieron, Jamal Donawa, Kiana and Adelle Martin. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Albertha Martin; son-in-law, Kevin Mussington; niece-in-law, Ruby Osborne; great nieces: Corinne Osborne Aska, Valerie Bristol and Violet Bailey; great nephew, Leroy Osborne Jr.; cousin, Viola Henry; special friends: Sitna Yarwood and Lindeta Hazell; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, at the Friedensthal Moravian Church. Interment will follow at the Moravian Cemetery.
