St. Thomas Police were called to Estate Tutu on Tuesday afternoon on a report of shots fired, and after hours of searching, found the lifeless body of a gunshot victim.
Kareem George, 32, died as a result of at least one gunshot to his body, police said in a news release Tuesday evening.
Police received a call of multiple shots fired at about 1 p.m. Officers then canvassed the area with no results. At about 4 p.m., police expanded the search area, going further into a bushy area, where they located the body.
According to St. Thomas Deputy Chief Dwayne DeGraff, a firearm was found close to George’s body, which was found in a residential yard. The weapon was turned over to Forensics for ballistics testing. The medical examiner will process the body to determine the circumstances of death.
Detectives from the Major Crime Bureau are following up on this case. Police are appealing to the community for information to solve this latest homicide. This was the sixth homicide reported homicide in the territory since the start of the new year, the third on St. Thomas.
