Traffic Flowing on Mafolie Hill After Chase and Accident

An all-points bulletin (APB), a high-speed chase and wet roads led to a multi-car accident on Mafolie Hill that snarled traffic in the area for a couple of hours Thursday afternoon.

According to V.I. Police Department officials, it all started when officers put out an APB on a car suspected of carrying “contraband.” The car was spotted by law enforcement personnel in the area of Raphune Hill. A chase up Route 39, Donoe Road and onto Skyline Drive, Route 40, ensued. It all ended, according to Police Public Information Director Melody Rames, at the hairpin turn on Mafolie Hill, when the suspect car hit four vehicles: one unmarked Investigations Bureau vehicle, a U.S. Marshal’s car and two private vehicles.

Rames was gathering details on what kind of contraband the suspects may have been carrying, whether arrests were made, and the names of those involved. According to initial reports, she said no one was seriously injured.

As of 3:30 p.m. traffic was again flowing in the area.
