Dear Source:
Maybe in Ohio they restrict marriage based on religion. Being a Christian, I cannot in any way condone using my religion as a political tool. Because I have gay friends, I can say it's been my experience that the many gay people I know have exactly the same values as my family. They live, love, laugh and seek the same opportunities as anyone else; they serve their communities and they serve our country. It's a slap in our own faces to say that any people who take equal responsibility with us deserve less in regard to the law. As we sit discussing this intellectually, gay men and women are defending our country, our islands and our lives. They risk the same bullets as heterosexual people. They pay identical taxes. They work and they have feelings just as we all do.
It's way past time to stop this insanity and bring credence to an idea of equal protection under the law.
