Brief: Christensen Gets Health Award

Nov. 14, 2007 — Delegate Donna M. Christensen has received the Legislative Service Award, given recently by the Black Caucus of Health Workers, a national group of health professionals from various fields.
Christensen, who chairs the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, was honored for her work in minority health issues, including advocacy and legislation, according to a new release from the delegate's office.
“I was pleased to accept the award on behalf of all who toil for health-care parity on the local and national level,” Christensen said.
She was honored along with former U.S. Surgeon General and Morehouse School of Medicine President Dr. David Satcher, who received the Poindexter Award; Dr. Linda Randolph, CEO and president of the D.C. Developing Families Center, who received the Community Service Award; and her colleague, Congressman Edolphus Towns of New York’s 10th District, who also received recognition for his legislative work.
