THRAEN TAKES REINS OF ST. THOMAS ROTARY II

Rotary Club of St. Thomas II swore in a new president and a 13-member board at its weekly luncheon meeting Wednesday, held aboard the cruise ship Grandeur of the Seas, which was tied up at the West Indian Company dock for its regular St. Thomas port call.
Yvonne Thraen, who assumed the presidency from Katrina White-Comissiong, was serenaded by a sextet of fellow Rotarians making their debut with the Lionel Richie hit "Three Times a Lady." There was also a musical tribute by Larry Benjamin.
Comissiong told Thraen she was taking the reins of "a dynamic group of humanitarians who are making a difference in our community." The new president responded that, for her, "The hard works starts today, and I'm looking forward to working with this exceptional group."
In addition to Thraen, the new board comprises Comissiong, Ethelbert Bedminster, Alicia Boatwright, Chris Brathwaite, Jeff Davis, Erva Denham, Valerie George, Cyril Harrigan, Roy Jackson, Susan MacFarland-Helton, Fitzgerald Rowe, Clarence Thomas and Annette Williams.
