AMERICAN AIRLINES SENIOR CLUB OPEN TILL OCT. 31

Seniors can take advantage of heavily discounted air fares to North and South America, Europe and Asia by enrolling in the AActive American senior discount travel club offered by American Airlines. Membership is limited and those wishing to enroll have until Oct. 31.
Membership in the AActive American Traveler Club is available to anyone who has reached the age of 62 by Oct. 1, 2000. The club has two membership levels: individual membership for $45 and Companion membership for $75. Companion membership allows another traveler to fly with you on the same itinerary for the same low fares, regardless of the companion's age. You must also be a member of American Airlines' American Advantage frequent flyer program or be willing to register for a free account.
Membership in the club allows Virgin Islands residents to travel much more cheaply. For example, one can fly one-way from the USVI to the following destinations for the stated amounts: Miami and Atlanta, $109; Baltimore, Washington, New York, Boston and Portland, Me., $139; Chicago and Cleveland, $179; Albuquerque and New Orleans, $189; and Palm Springs and Seattle, $219.
AActive American Traveler Club fares are guaranteed for travel through March 31, 2001, and may be combined with AActive American Traveler Club fares valid through midnight Sept. 30, 2000. After March 31, 2001, fares are subject to increase by a maximum of 5 percent.
There are blackout dates between the Caribbean and the continent from Dec. 16 through March 31 and July 1 through Aug. 31. There are also blackouts between the continent and Europe, Asia and South America. In the United States, travelers cannot fly on Friday and Sunday, and Saturday travel costs an additional $20.
