PETER, ROLLINS AND GOLDMAN WIN FAIR RACE

Feb. 17, 2003 – Amidst all the activities at the annual Agricultural and Food Fair, a small group of children aged 13 and younger ran the second annual Fair Race For Children on Saturday.
The 1000-meter race was a romp through the exhibits of farm delights of plants, fruits, vegetables, animals, food and more food, covering the course in about five minutes. Participating kids took the cue from Gov. Charles Turnbull, who cut the ribbon to officially open the fair.
Ten-year-old Allison Peter of the Church of God Holiness School was the first across the finish line in 3 minutes and 55 seconds. She later was a star in the Agrifest Track Meet, winning the 100- and 200-meter events for her age group. She was followed by Chelsie Goldman of Country Day School, second in 4:04; Kiara Chooran of Eulalie Rivera Elementary School, third in 4:21; and Tori Morotz of Country Day, fourth in 5:18. Jelani Rollins of Good Hope School had the boys' field to himself with a time of 4:19. Brin Goldman of Country Day was the nine-and-under girls winner in 4:31.
The next event on the V.I. Pace Runners calendar is The Annual Flight 64 Four Mile Road Race on March 9. For more information call 340-777-0258 or log to the V.I. Pace Runners Web site.
