CHAMBER TO HEAR HOME DEPOT EXECUTIVE SEPT. 12

Sept. 6, 2003 — The St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce will host a membership luncheon on Friday, Sept. 12, at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports & Fitness Center as part of the 2003 Business Expo. The guest speaker for the luncheon is Don Harrison, public relations manager for Home Depot's Eastern Division.
"Don Harrison manages public relations for Home Depot's Eastern Division of 600 stores," said Chamber Executive Director Joe Aubain. "The division is responsible for 40 percent of the company's stores and its 315,000 employees, and spans the East Coast of the United States from Portland, Maine, to Puerto Rico. He has assumed the public relations for the St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, opening in December. Mr. Harrison coordinated the company's efforts when it entered Puerto Rico."
"In light of the fact that Home Depot is preparing to open its Virgin Islands store in December," Aubain noted, "the Chamber is very interested in hearing more about the company, especially as it relates to pricing, employment opportunities and community involvement."
The cost for the luncheon is $22 for Chamber members and $27 for non-members. Reservations are requested, and may be made by calling the Chamber office at 776-0100.
Chartered by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization of nearly 750 businesses dedicated to promoting the civic and economic growth and vitality of St. Thomas and St. John.
