Coki Point Road Closed Monday for Dam Construction

Dec. 5, 2004 — The left hand side of Coki Point Road (Route 388) going toward Coki beach will be closed Monday for work on a drainage problem, according to a release from Government House.
Wayne D. Callwood, commissioner of the Public Works Department, said Betteroads Asphalt Corp. will be constructing a dam to control the high level of water that flows through the area.
Anyone wishing to access Coki Point or Coral World can use the first road that is north west of Route 388. It is the road closest to the vegetable stands in Smith Bay. Once on the road, motorists should go to where the hill starts and make the first right off the hill. That road ends up back on Coki Point Road, past where the construction is taking place, according to Valissa Hodge of Coral World.
Hodge said most of the taxi drivers know about the other route to the marine park and beach at Coki Point.
