Sen. Barshinger to Hold Town Meeting on St. John Land Situation

Sen Barshinger to Hold Town Meeting on St. John Land Situation
Senator-at-Large Craig W. Barshinger will host a town meeting on Friday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m., at the Westin Resort on St. John. The meeting is entitled: "The Perils of Rapid Development on St. John." The senator says that land speculation and sky rocketing property taxes might soon force many St. Johnians out of their homes. He will present his own land development tax bill for public comment.
The meeting's agenda will cover land tax, opportunities and access. There will be an open mic to address community issues. Guests will include Tax Assessor Roy Martin, representatives from the office of the lieutenant governor, and Delegate Donna Christensen.
