St. Croix Man Arrested Following Domestic Violence Assault

A 37-year-old St. Croix man was arrested Tuesday morning on multiple assault charges following a domestic violence incident reported the day before, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Craig James was taken into custody around 8:33 a.m. by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau’s Domestic Violence Unit. He faces charges of second-degree assault, simple assault and battery, and third-degree assault, the VIPD said in a press release, according to the police report.

The arrest stems from an incident reported at approximately 5:31 p.m. Monday, when detectives were called to the Ancilmo Marshall Command in reference to a domestic violence complaint. The adult female victim told investigators she had been physically assaulted by an adult male, the police report stated.

James was booked and transported to the John A. Bell Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility. In accordance with the territory’s domestic violence laws, no bail was set. He is scheduled to appear for an advice of rights hearing Wednesday in Superior Court, the report stated.
