Samuel Edward Hughes died at home on July 1, at 86 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Eunice of 45 years; his brother, Daniel Hughes; sister-in-law, Ethylene Hughes; children, Dr. Alan David, Sheila, Marilyn, Kim Hughes Sargeant; and stepchildren: Na’imah Muhammad, Linda Navarro, Diane Carroll and Paul Smith. He is also survived by grandchildren: Monica and Brian, Dr. Mary Hughes, Dr. Dora Hughes, Laura Hughes and Shana Sargeant; step grandchildren: Marc Jackson, Glenn Jackson, Andrea Carroll, Richard Carroll, Staff Sergeant, Miguel Navarro and Christi Navarro; godchildren: Rissa, Austin and Anthony Fabio; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., on Friday, July 17, at St. Croix Reformed Church. Pastor Rodney Koopman will conduct the service.
