Home Invasion Leaves St. John Resident Injured

A St. John resident was shot multiple times during a home invasion in Bellevue Village  Tuesday night, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Officers responded to the burglary report at approximately 10 p.m. and found the male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation determined that the victim had opened his door for a visitor when two unidentified men forced their way inside. A struggle ensued between the victim and one of the assailants before the victim managed to break free. One of the intruders then fired a gun, striking the victim several times, according to the police report.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment, the police report stated.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is leading the investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211, or Crime Stoppers V.I. at 800-222-8477 (TIPS).
