Air Force Airman Jaime O. Granger/St. Croix
Air Force Airman Jaimie O. GrangerJune 1, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Air Force Airman Jaime O. Granger graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Granger is a 2009 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Frederiksted, Virgin Islands.
Army National Guard Spec. Keiron D. Hendrickson/St. Thomas
June 1, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Spec. Keiron D. Hendrickson has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 442nd Military Police Company, Jamaica, N.Y.
The soldiers are normally activated from Army Reserve or Army National Guard units from throughout the U.S. They go through a series of in-processing procedures and training classes that prepare them for skills and situations they may face in their deployed environment.
Hendrickson is a military police member with three years of military service.
He is the son of Kurtley C. Hendrickson of Walton Ave., Bronx, N.Y., and Jessica M. Hendrickson of Contant St., St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Hilton T. Huggins/St. Croix
June 4, 2010 (Fleet Hometown News Center) – Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Hilton T. Huggins, son of Marion Caines of Frederiksted, V. I., assigned to the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), recently received the 2009 Admiral Flatley Memorial Award.
The Admiral Flatley Memorial Award for aviation safety is based on comprehensive assessment of contributions towards aviation safety and is presented to one aircraft carrier, an associated carrier air wing and one amphibious assault ship and associated marine expeditionary unit annually. The ship maintained a record of zero mishaps for calendar year 2009 while safely completing a total of more than 4,000 hours of flight operations and more than 5,000 hours of shipboard landings.
Bataan is undergoing planned maintenance availability at BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair Yard in Norfolk, Va.
Huggins is a 1990 graduate of St. Croix Central High School of Kingshill, V. I., and joined the Navy in April 1991.

McClean is a 1996 graduate of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School of Charlotte Amaile, V. I., and joined the Navy in March 1998.

Army National Guard Pvt. Craig O. Velasquez/St. Croix
June 15, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Pvt. Craig O. Velasquez has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship qualification, bayonet combat, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, marches, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values.
He is the grandson of Emelda Parris of Estate Whim, Frederiksted, U.S. Virgin Islands, and son of Harriet Robles of Runningbrook Lane, McKinney, Texas.
Velasquez is a 2008 graduate of McKinney Boyd High School.
Army Pfc. Sarah J. Angol/St. Thomas
June 15, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army Pfc. Sarah J. Angol has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
She is the daughter of Anthony Angol of Bolongo Bay, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Angol is a 2008 graduate of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, St. Thomas.
Army Pvt. Jorge A. Perez/St. Croix
June 15, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army Pvt. Jorge A. Perez has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
He is the son of Amarilis Berrios Santiago and grandson of Samuel Santiago, both of Barrenspot St., Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Perez is a 2007 graduate of St. Croix Central High School, Kingshill, U.S. Virgin Islands.
